Five miles into a half-marathon (13.1 miles)
Thank you, beautiful weather, for holding out long enough for me to meet that milestone before the snow and ice hit. And thank you, 40-year-old, non-runner’s body, for doing it even though for a while I was convinced I was asking too much of you.
At this point I’m hyper-aware that if I don’t get distracted by comparing myself to anyone else’s progress, don’t care how fast I get there, don’t psych myself out in advance about the hills/obstacles/discomfort between me and the end goal, I can go any distance.
